Farmers supporting farmers in need

Farmers supporting farmers

Recently we had the privilege of being able to help some farmers that have really been doing it tough.

The drought has really taken it’s toll on many of the farmers in South East Queensland and the current milk prices are also hitting our local dairy farmers quite hard.

On top of the drought, the extended Woolooga area was recently burnt out by some fierce fires, destroying property, livestock and equipment. It was truly soul destroying for the many farming families that were affected.
We had 8 pigs that really needed to go and there were many farmers out there in need of help. It just made sense for us that we should donate these pigs to our farmers and not just send them off to make sausages.

Not only were we putting food on their tables, but we were letting them know that there are people out there thinking of them.

In late August we sent 5 of the pigs off for processing. With these pigs we were able to supply more than 30 farmers in our local area with large family sized mixed pork boxes. Our deliveries went out just in time for Father’s Day!

A week after the fires hit the Woolooga area we sent the last 3 pigs off to be processed. Over 20 mixed pork boxes were handed out to those affected by the fires. Many of the farmers had also lost the contents of their freezers along with the loss of power during the fires.

We’ve received many notes of thanks from our pork recipients, so grateful for the offering and help we provided, but in a way, they also helped us.
